Senate Committee Approves Proposed Changes to Retirement Plans

The Senate Finance Committee unanimously approved a series of proposals that make full congressional passage of a retirement-improvement package more likely this year. The “Enhancing American Retirement Now Act” contains similar provisions to those proposed in the House of Representatives. The House bill referred to as the “Securing a Strong Retirement Act” received bipartisan support in a 414-5 vote in late March. Known as “Secure 2.0,” the house bill is intended to build upon the original Secure Act of 2019, which made changes designed to increase retirement security by improving access to workplace retirement and savings plans.
